Last Sunday I spent 4 hours in the company of lots of parent bloggers, life stylers and young fashionistas for a bit of crafting.Hosted by the lovely ladies from The Crafty Hen who run craft party workshops and joined by Laura Ashley crafts reps, it was a crafters idea of heaven.
We started by covering a notebook using fabric and wallpaper from Laura Ashley crafts, I used fabric from the Summer Palace collection and complimented the inside of the notebook with wallpaper from the same collection. It was very hard to choose as all the prints are totally gorgeous but I fell in love with the bird design as it reminded me of Victorian botanical illustrations.
We were taken through the process of covering a notebook, then left to it with much angst at using thin double-sided tape.I just finished my notebook before lunch, using yellow ribbon to tie the book close and lace roses with buttons, expertly glue gunned on.
As bloggers, we spent much time stopping to photograph the process and to Instagram what we were doing.I suspect we could have halved our time, if we had not been so keen to share what fun we were having with our blog and social media followers.
After lunch, we made Suffolk Puffs or as I know them, yo-yo’s.I made a yo-yo blanket a few years ago, taking me a year in all to complete, thankfully we only had only an hour to create something fabulous.
I went for simple hair ties for my girls and a brooch for myself.Having spent sometime cutting numerous sized circles, I didn’t have a plan on how it was going look.Everyone was using netting and other fab accessories to make a statement piece, despite that my girls have loved wearing their bobbles to school.
It was a brilliant few hours spent in a very local location, which is unheard of as most blogging events are held in London and involve my kids too.It was nice to be invited along by Joe Blogs network to do something for me for a change.
Disclaimer: I was invited along by Joe Blogs network to attend a craft event hosted by The Crafty Hen craft parties and Laura Ashley crafts.I paid for my own travel.I received a goody bag which had £20 of hand wash and hand lotion and a Laura Ashley catalogue.I had a pick of remnant fabrics and wallpapers to take home.
