Back in the day, when I first started blogging I used to just post a very long post once a month about we’ve been up for the benefit of my friends and family who I didn’t see that often.I wasn’t very good at it and after a while personal blogging stopped.T from Mummy Barrow started a new linky last week which helps you document what you have been up to, so I thought I’d give it a go and see if I can improve after 6 and whatever years of blogging.
Monday the 29th of June
After going to the Bristol Foodies Festival on Saturday (I need to write this up today- oops), Sunday was a lazy day and I decide I need to get get in practice for my social media detox. Before even going to BritMums Live! a few weeks ago, I had decided to do a social media detox as I needed to really concentrate on going back to blogging instead of faffing around on social media.I decided I would do a whole month without Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest to get my blog full of content, get myself into vlogging and sort out my Google+ account.I uninstalled Instagram and Pinterest on Sunday, the two accounts I use only for me and rarely to push my blog.I then cracked on with getting on writing the 3 guest posts I owed people and get last week’s The Making of Harry Potter review up.I got one guest post done along with the Sweets And Treats review up. Proud with my ability to just get on with it, I logged into Facebook and Twitter in the late afternoon.Detoxing for a month maybe a bit tricky.I spend the evening reading To Kill A Mockingbird, which I started weeks ago.
Tuesday the 30th of June
Today I deleted Facebook, Twitter, Hootsuite apps from my phone. The only notifications going off on my phone are for Periscope.I finish a blog post for a Nasturtium Pesto recipe I started on Friday and start on the other two guest posts I need to write.I go way off topic on the Google+ hangout guest post I’m writing, so I’m keeping it for myself but I don’t want to publish until the actual guest post I should be working on gets published.I get halfway through and loose myself in technical explanations and give up.That evening I decide to start sewing all the granny squares I have crocheted together.I am in the process of making a number of blankets for the hospice that my auntie (who died of cancer last november) stayed in.I did log into Facebook during the day as I had joined a couple of blog comment threads.I finish reading To Kill A Mockingbird.
Wednesday the 1st of July
Every Wednesday either my dad or his partner B takes me to Morrison’s for my weekly shop.I ended up buying Pimm’s for the first time since the Queen’s Jubilee year.We also went to B&M, my first visit I bought new cushion covers and over the door coat hooks. It’s the hottest day in July on record, 29ºc here. When I get home I clean up the kitchen, put out some washing then spend the rest of the day sewing more granny squares together and I even had an afternoon nap as it was so bloody hot.I don’t touch my blog or get anything more done on the guest posts I should be doing.
Thursday the 2nd of July
It rains on and off all day and I get all of yesterday’s housework chores done and I finish the guest post I was working on.Sending it over to Joanne Brady of Kids Days Out Reviews to proofread and edit for me because she’s one of the hangout hosts who does Friday At 11 with me.I send out invites for tomorrow’s Friday At 11 Google+ hangout and having a little FOMO moment chatting to my other hosts, I quickly log into Facebook and Twitter.I answered a few tweets and watched a couple of cat videos on Facebook.I decide I need another distraction other than crocheting and after school I take the kids to Waterstones.Cat, 9 comes away with a new book and I, two.I start reading Clare Mackintosh’s I Let You Go that evening and I’m halfway through sewing up the blanket of granny squares.
Friday the 3rd of July
Today is a day of cleaning, dusting, pairing socks, doing washing, putting out the recycling that has been neatly lined up along the back doorway, cleaning the fridge and cleaning the kitchen floor.I host this week’s Friday At 11 Google+ hangout in between housework. After the school run we got to the girl’s school fete, where we win a packet of dried pasta in sauce and a tin of corned beef.Me and Mouse, 7 make veggie tacos for dinner and she picks raspberries from the garden.Joanne sends back the edited guest post, eventually I send to the Tots100 later that evening.I make up a jug of Pimm’s with lemonade, strawberries, lemon, orange, mint and cucumber.I spend the evening drinking and reading whilst the kids are on the PS3.I stay up really late and watch the thunder and lightening until gone 1 am.
Saturday the 4th of July
I decide as it’s the weekend I’ll log into Facebook and Twitter.I’m so lame. Why can’t I do this? Me and the kids go up to my mum’s for a barbecue and I take my nearly finished blanket. We drink Pimm’s all afternoon, eat too much food and I reinstall Instagram, post 3 photos and end up phubbing.I do finish the blanket and leave it with my mum as she’s going to visit the hospice soon to see the plaque she bought. The plaque has my auntie’s name on it and will be laid in the garden of remembrance in hospice grounds. We get home late afternoon and the kids go back on the PS3 whilst I get back to reading I Let You Go.
Sunday the 5th of July
I stayed up late last night hoping to finish my book but it got too late and I drunk too much Pimm’s, so I was in bed at 11ish.I woke up at 5 for a pee and vowed to clean up the kitchen, living room and bathroom before the kids woke up.I sat with my tea and book, which I finished two hours later. It’s a bloody good book, I’m in post book limbo all day.It rains on and off all day, bringing the temperature down to a nice 20ºc.The housework never got done, the kids intermittently went on the PS3, did homework, argued and then watched a film on Amazon film.I sat on the sofa all day after finishing my book, and I started crocheting another blanket whilst watching Midsomer Murders and I start reading another book in the evening.Monday is inset day for the girl’s, so I go to bed early with the intention of getting up early.
I’ve written this this morning, Monday the 6th of July, which was hard remembering what I/we did.I think I need to write each day up before I go to bed.Oh and take more photos without posting to Instagram, which I deleted yet again last night.
Linking up to T’s My Week which you can find her with other people’s posts.
