This has been a huge help and resource over the past few weeks as I get Christmas recipes and crafts for kids to make, including gifts for family, friends and the girl’s teachers.
I am a huge hoarder and always have many craft items to hand, so this Christmas decorative jars were a perfect way to use up some long forgotten items I have either been given or bought from charity shops. As a year round preserver, I have a cupboard just for keeping empty jam jars in, so again these Christmas decorative jars to use for teacher’s presents.
I washed all the jars and dried them as they were a bit dusty. The crochet doilies I bought from a charity shop months ago along with the straw raffia that I glue gunned around each jar and glued the doily on top of each jar lid.Had I used bigger jars I would glued the doilies on the side.
I traced a ready-made tag onto sparkly dark stock card. Using a silver pen I labelled each tag with a teachers name and from child it was from.I used see through wired ribbon that was given ti me from my mum.The girls made up the 3D decoupage from sheets I was given a few years ago from a friend of my mum’s. They were then glued onto the front of the tags.
A battery operated tealight will go on top of the chocolate humbug bark I’ll put inside first. That’s it, very simple and effective present.
The cost of each jam jar I would guess at around £1, maybe less. You could use tissue paper torn into pieces and glued with PVA glue, hessian ribbon, paper snowflakes, Christmas sequins, dried orange slice, cinnamon sticks or small sprigs of fir tree.
