I have been immersing myself in crochet and book reading lately, hence the overdue blog update. Our local woods have become very muddy in areas that usually are dry. This has made our regular Bird’s Marsh walks impossible, only the surrounding fields passable. With a break in the weather a few weeks ago, we headed out before March left us.
The trees are slowly greening the canopy above and the surrounding hedges are budding new leaves. Rhododendrons are beginning to come into flower. The woodland floor is a carpet of bluebell leaves, whilst pockets of daffodils are going over.
The above photo was taken in the bluebell glade that will be in full flower by the end of the month. The smell mossy damp earth fills the all our lungs as we venture to the kid’s favourite fallen silver birch.
As I try my hand at video, Kip is using Snapchat to show his friends our Bird’s Marsh walk.
Our favourite part of the woods, looks out onto the surrounding fields. We often picnic here during the summer as the view is never tiring.
I did say it was a bit muddy didn’t I?
