Last Friday I attended the MAD Blog Awards 2016 as a finalist for Outstanding Contribution. After the delay of getting into London due to the heavy rain rainfall the day before, I arrived just before lunch time.I met up with Jaime of Oliver’s Madhouse in Kensington for a very much appreciated bowl of chips and a gin and tonic at The Goat pub, across from the MAD’s venue. We had a very long natter before Joanne of Kids Days Out Reviews joined us and we headed off to Wagamama’s to join the TOTS100 team and a few other bloggers for lunch number two.Only this time I had a raw salad bowl and a raw juice.
Me and Joanne left everyone as we headed off to check into our hotel for a shower and a change into our glad rags. The heavy rainfall that fell the night before caused the roof to leak, so our room was unsuitable.Thankfully they had another hotel just down the street. After showering and changing, we headed back to reach The Royal Garden Hotel just after 5 pm.I had my hair and make-up done by the talented Powder Puff Girls team.
The wine flowed as we mingled and chatted until we were called to our tables for a very spectacular 3 course meal.As a vegan I was equally impressed as everyone with the stunning food. Thanks to Alison of Complicated Gorgeousness who plied me with enough red wine ( I did drink equal amounts of water), to calm my nerves down before the awards commenced. The wonderfully funny Helen Lederer hosted the MAD Blog Awards 2016, thankfully my category wasn’t too far into the night. My lovely and epic friend Becky , writer of 9 blogs won Outstanding Contribution.A very worthy winner along with all the others in the other categories.
Thanks to Vanessa of HPMcQ for being my dance floor my companion until 1 am Saturday morning. There was some hijacking of the DJ’s playlist at some point, where we pulled all the shapes. My poor back didn’t appreciate that very much on Sunday I can tell you.
Last but not at least, thanks to Sally and all the TOTS 100 team and helpers for making my first MAD Blog Awards 2016 such a memorable one.Sorry to Joanne, who had to put up with my snoring within two minutes of me getting into bed. Thanks to for being my room-mate for the Friday night and my mum for being at home for my kids.
