Friday 11th November
Saturday the 29th of Saturday 2016, Halloween weekend saw us heading off to Ashton Court, Bristol for a Gung ho! Spooktacular Run.The 5k run, which incorporates inflatable obstacle course*.Gung Ho! Bristol was split into different time sessions depending on age, kids going around the 5K course first as it gets dark after 6pm.The girls were dressed in ripped clothes and had their faces painted as zombies to look the part. Many were dressed in all sorts of costumes including a giant lobster for the spooktacular 5k run which included Europe’s largest inflatable. As well as being a fun run there were people running in teams or solo with the intention of completing the course to raise money via sponsorship.
Gung ho! Spooktacular Run
Before the run began Andy Day of CBeebies warmed up the crowd with his Dinosaur Rap.I have to say my teen son, Kieran lapped it up and done me proud to humour me.Mia, my youngest not so much.
The Gung Ho! Spooktacular Run took just over an hour for my 3 to complete.Kieran said he’d would have been so much quicker had he not had to keep stopping to let Mia catch up.They really enjoyed it though and they said they would do it again if given the chance.
The Gung Ho! Spooktacular Run does take a good hour to complete.I did panic a little as it was getting dark when the first phase runners started to get to the last couple of inflatable obstacles.I managed eventually to find someone to help me find them and of course within a few minutes of the security team radioing around, my 3 kids came into sight.
As darkness fell the kids crossed the line after finishing Gung Ho! Spooktacular Run and picked up their Gong Ho! glow in the t-shirts and bandannas.Just after 7pm the crowd was treated to a brilliant firework display. We headed off home not after it ended, where we got stupidly lost after leaving from the wrong entrance and we walked for over an hour back to Bristol Temple Meads station.
We were given complimentary entries for Gung Ho! Spooktacular Run in return for social media coverage.
